Sogan Kebabi | Turkish Onion Kebab

Sogan Kebabi or Onion Kebab is a traditional kebab made in Turkey.  I gave the recipe a try out the other day and it was very simple and tasty.  I also think wrapping these in foil individually and placing in the barque coals would result in very tasty bbq food.

Mix your Minced meat, salt and pepper together and then make walnut sized balls and flatten slightly.

Wash your onion whole and remove any loose shell and cut a slit down the onion but not cutting the onion half.

Place your mince meat kofte shapes inside your onions.  Use a deep tray and place your onions in the tray, drizzle over your Pomegranate Extract.  If you don’t have Pomegranate you can leave it out or try some other condiment that goes well with meat like Worchester Sauce.

Before placing in the oven add a little water to the bottom of your tray.

Place in a preheated oven at 185 degrees until the meat is cooked to your liking.

Remove from the oven and cover with tinfoil and leave to stand for 10 min.  Serve with a nice Salad and bread.
