Kofte – Meatballs in a Tomato Sauce

One of my favourite recipes Meatballs in a Tomato Sauce. Its very simple and can be made as a one dish meal.

Take your minced meat add in the Cumin, Garlic, Paprika, Salt and Pepper.  Use your hands to mix in the ingredients and mash the mince into more of a paste.

Once mixed, take about a tablespoon of the mixture and shape into an oval shape, do this until you have used all of your mixture.

Next in a bowl put our tomato paste, tomatoes cumin seasoning and olive oil and mix together.  Then add in your water. You don’t want a thick paste you want it to be quite thin just like a stock water.

Then place your kofte onto a tray or glass dish that is about 2 inch deep as you will be adding your tomato sauce over the kofte and you don’t want it to go over the edge of your tray.

Place in an oven pre heated to about 150 degrees.  Cook until your sauce has thickened and your kofte are cooked.

I like to add in potatoes, peppers and more tomatoes and cook them all together to make a simple meal.  Or serve with rice or pasta.

It would be good to have an idea of how long exactly (or even roughly) to cook the Kofte. Also, in the US ovens can’t set to 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Do you mean 150 Celsius?
