Recipe for Mince Borek
Here in Turkey the puff pastry (Milfoy) is bought in the freezer section, they are cut into squares and you get 20 Squares per pack. If you are not in Turkey then purchase which ever puff pastry you like to use and cut into squares.
Finely chop your peppers, carrot and onion. Then in a pot add about a tablespoon of Oil, I like Olive oil and soften the onion in the oil then add in your carrot and pepper. Let these soften then add in your mince and allow the mince to brown. Add in salt and pepper to taste.
Then add in either stock cube or some gravy granules to the mince and about half a cup of water to make a gravy. Cook for another 10 to 15 minutes over a low heat.
Pre heat your over to 200c
Once your mince is ready its time to make up your pies.
On a baking tray place half of your squares of puff pastry and then spoon on 1 to 2 teaspoons of your mince.
Now cover each of your squares with the other half of your puff pastry squares and pinch the edges.
Brush with egg and place in the oven at about 200 c for 10 to 15 minutes or until pastry has puffed up and gone golden brown.
Serve by themselves or with a lovely Turkish Salad.
